What I Learned Today

Today, I learned compound sentence, complex sentence and run on sentences. Compound sentence is a sentence that more than 2 sentences are compounded with connecting word. 'I did homework, and my sister did cooking.' This is a compound sentence with 'and.' Complex sentence is also a 2 sentences are compounded together but one part is independent clauses and other part is dependent clauses. 'When I was sick, I went to hospital.' For this sentence, 'when-' is the dependent part and 'I went-' is the independent part. Run on sentences are sentence that too many sentences were compounded. To fix this, connecting words can be added or separate each ones.

What I Learned Today

Today in ESL class, I learned what a complete sentence and a sentence fragment is. The complete sentence is the sentence that has subject, predicate and complete thought. A sentence fragment is a sentence that doesn't have subject, predicate or a complete thought which is the opposite of the complete sentence. One example of a fragment sentence is "She shopping." This sentence is missing predicate so it's not the complete sentence
